ECM Swap
I have one out of a 90 F-150 4.9 M/T but it has different part number. Both are EFI. The 87 is a short wheel base the 90 Long. Both have dual tanks,However the 87 has three pumps the 90 had two.
Does anyone know if I can use the 90 ECM in my 87? Ford has'nt carried it since 1999 and the after market tells me I have to send it in and have it rebuilt (2-3 week turn around)
Thanks for any and all response Dennis
I would do the swap. I'm about 98% sure it will work, and I'm 99.999% sure it won't hurt anything, even if it doesn't work.
Replaced EGR and Sensor as well as the EGR control cylinoid. After doing so I reset the puter by removeing the battery cables and holding them togather for 1 minute. After doing so it would'nt idel worth a whoot.
Scaned it again and replaced IAC valve. Still no help. Did some home work, scaned it again and replaced O2 sensor,Coolant temp sensor, and ACT sensor. Runs MUCH beter but still wont idel very good and dies at stop lights now and then.
Closed the hood with the key on and the fuel pump ran continusly, until I turned off the key. Turned it back on then pumps worked properly.
My last scan was a code 12, ECM not able to control idel. Rechecked my new IAC valve and it checks good. ECM is the only thing I can think of.
I will try the 90s ECM and hope it works.
Thanks for your response's
