Wheel Off-set

Can anyone tell me how much off-set I need on my wheels to prevent tire rub on the radius arms and stabilizer bar of my 90 bronco? I'm currently running 33 x 12.5 on zero off-set 15 x 10 rims and they rub pretty bad toward the end of the turning radius. After I re-engine (and re-gear) the beast, I'm considering going up to 35's.

Stock backspacing is about 4-4.5" I've run 33x12.50's on 15x10 MT Challengers with 3.5" backspacing but thats with 4" of susp. lift. They don't rub the radius arms at all with the lift. Not sure about an unlifted setup though.

My stock alloys have 3.75 inches of backspacing, so if you're running 15x10's with zero offset - meaning 5 inches of backspacing - then you're over an inch closer to the radius arms right there. The 12.5-inch section width of your tires is almost 2 inches wider than the largest tires available from the factory, putting you another inch or so closer to the radius arms. Overall your tire/rim combination puts you about 2 inches closer to the radius arms than stock, so it's not surprising that you've got some serious rubbing going on.

Thans for the info guys. I am going to add a 4 inch lift when buy new tires (and wheels). I just wanted to make sure I got the right set-up without a lot of expensive trial and error.

I've got an 88 with the superlift 4" and run 33 12.5 on 15s. I have the extended radius arms. I'm not sure what the backspacing on my rims are but I have some rub. Enough that when you turn the wheel all the way you can't move. I guess thats more than rub its more like bind.

My 94 has 33x12.50-15s on 15x10 rims with 3.75" backspacing. I get no rubbing on the radius arms (Superlift extended), but the tires did rub the front bumper at full lock. I used some washers to space the bumper out about 3/8", and trimmed the plastic air dam under the bumper until it didn't rub anymore (about 2-3" off the end of the plastic).

If you're really concerned with tire rub on the stock radius arms, then you'll want to go with some wheel spacers they'll offset you enough to where you won't rub and as for the 4" lift kit it should come with extended radius arms so with 35" tires rubbing shouldn't be an issue, I recommend either superlift, or skyjacker. You can find the best prices on broncograveyard.com

never run wheel spacers. especially on a 4wd. they are a quick fix but not the proper fix. get the correct back spacing and you will be set

I don't think a 1/4" or 3/8" spacer would hurt much, of course they don't make a whole lot difference either, unless someone is at the edge of barely rubbing at full lock.

I spent quite a bit of time looking for 16" or 17" wheels with a BS of 3.5" - 3.75", and there aren't that many in that offset range. Depending on the size, the cutoff point is 4" - 4.5", meaning there are lots of wheels down to that BS, but but there are very few with less, and more often than not, those are the more expensive wheels. (i.e. a forged Al wheel from Weld) There were also a few places that would custom make a wheel to just about any custom spec, but they either didn't list price (and I didn't bother to call) and in one case it was either $300 or $400 for an aluminium wheel.

I eneded up getting a 16x7 painted steel from US Wheel with 4" of BS, and that fits fine with LT245/75R16.
