I would like to get it leveled, possibly fit 33's on it. Even though it's 2WD, I want to take it off road on some fire roads. Nothing extreme, or would require 4WD. I am unfamiliar with Ford lifts and suspensions. The front looks like some sort of IFS, but it's not like my Silverado's IFS.
What should I look for in a lift/leveling kit? Thanks!
its tricky lifting or lowering the front of a Ford truck, the Ibeam suspension is different than any other companies front ends...you can get a little lift in the front by replacing the coil springs, but you will throw off the camber and the tops of your tires will stick out and cause the outter edges to wear faster...now if your truck is sagging in the front like mine is, and the wheels are sticking out at the bottom, new stock springs (or slightly larger) and new shocks up front could put you back up to the right height...as for taking your truck down fire roads and such, having good tire tread on the rear tires and a rear locker will get you into (and out of) alot of places that you wouldn't normally take a 2wd truck..
Wow, it can do 32's stock? What would it take to get 35's?
Yeah, I wanted a "real" suspension lift and keep all the angles right. There wasn't a way to lower the I-beam? I was so happy to get a 2WD so I can do an actual lift. Lifting my other 4WD truck was going to cost more because of the front diff and IFS. You're probably right about not needing a lift. It's just that some of these roads have some dips that I rather have better suspension so I don't bottom out. If I have to replace the shocks, I might as well get taller ones. Definately a rear locker too! Get a push button one. I'm not a fan of LSD.
