OK guys, still don't have the TPS problem solved. My low mileage OBS ride is not paning out like I wanted. She cracked a front rotor in 4 places and of course needs 2 new calipers. Speedometer ceased functioning. Fuel pre heater shorted out and killed the whole truck(that one was fun to chase down). I understand older trucks need upkeep but it's getting to the point I don't trust it to leave town.
Biggest problem I have with it right now is that it's just not very strong. Truck has 4:10 gears with factory size tires and a 5 speed. It gets pretty bad mileage and isn't very impressive on power. I can always smell raw diesel when I am around the exhaust with it running. Any idea what's going on?
How many mile do you have on it?? Dose it smoke much?? have you changed the air filter latly?? dose it have a cat? oh yeak is ait a Power stroke or an IDI the swtiched to the PSD in 94.5 J

WY Cowboy, it's got about 130000 on it. Air cleaner is new. She smokes a little on start up and iddles a little rough until it comes up to operating temp but after that it runs smooth and doesn't smoke. Seems like it has a cat and yes it's a PSD. It just seems like it's throwing more diesel into the chambers than it can use.
1997 F350 yes I did read your post. Your help is greatly appreciated. My dealer wants $450.00 ish for the pedal assembly. I will check powerstrokeshop that sounds like a price I can live with. Like I said I understand problems associated with older trucks, I've never had a new one and don't really want one. It just seems like my 350 is eating me out of house and home. Any ideas on the excessive fuel consumption and raw diesel smell at the exhaust? Any figures for a 4x4 F350 5spd with 4:10 gears (dually) as far as fuel consumption?
it sounds like to me that you have a glow plug issue. either gpr or gp's or burnt wiring. and you are getting the raw diesel smell. if you have a cat you neeed to lose it. i dont see why it a newer pedal cant work. connectors may be different or something. but for that price its almost worth buying and making it work. do you have a picture of the connectors on your pedal? i will compare it with mine.
I can see the smoke on start up being GPs or Relays. Are you saying the power loss, poor economy and raw fuel smell are GP related or Cat Conv related? I agree 100% on ditching the cat. We don't have emission testing (yet) and wether it's part of the problem now or not loosing some backpressure is always good. I will try and get some pics of the pedal assembly today.
