automatic temperature control system

i just purchased an 03 eb excursion. when i start the vehicle sometimes the front automatic temperature control system comes on and sometimes it doesnt work at all. the rear controls seem to always work. the check engine light does not come on at all. any ideas?

Mine does the same thing. It comes on, but you cannot change any settings. I just had the remote start installed. If I get mine working I'll let you know.

i just got the truck yesterday. my front controls work normally (i can change any of the heat/a/c control settings) when the system comes on. but when it does not come on the panel is completely blank. i believe my car has a remote starter also because i saw literature in the glovebox. thanks and im sure we will be talking again.

I had this problem in my 04. It was only intermittent and I got the dealer to replace the control unit. There was some rumor here (or elsewhere, I forget) that there is a loose connection or bad solder joint in some of the control units. Since my was replaced under warrenty. I don't know how or where it might be repaired if was my own pocketbook.

I cannot get mine to blow out of the dash vents any ideas anyone??

That problem is normally vacuum related. Meaning that somewhere you're "leaking" vacuum and there isn't enough vacuum to move the "doors" in the A/C unit.
