Heater temperature control

I have a 1997 F-150 4.6L automatic. All of a sudden the heater temperature control **** on the dash doesn't appear to work. Once the engine is warmed up, the vent setting blows warm air even with the temp set on coolest. With the temp set on warmest, the air doesn't get very hot when I use the heater setting. Also, the A/C setting doesn't seem to affect this. Any suggestions? Could this be a switch or relay that is bad?
