got antsy and bought the following valves on ebay- gotta save a little $$ on this growing build of mine!!!
then I figured i might have screwed up- let me know what you think of these valves. I'd rather lose a bill then ruin my 3K and growing motor.
BTW I did get my roller cam and 302 lifters ordered from comp. A friend saved me about $250 on it and it was still 5 1/2 bills-special grind and the retro kit and the special length push-rods included. working on porting my oz heads- the block was done but they forgot to mill the deck level so they are doing that.
I decided to go with the 4v size ie 2.19/171. Will not work on shroud.
anyway ebay item # 8020076403...thanks and enjoy the hdays.
hummm. they seem to look nice. made with good metal and have a nice finish. very tough call. the downside is they are made in israel but then again so are most engine bearings now. i would read their feedback
thanks so much....I had to take a chance at that price.
Danlee- regarding size: I remember Tim and you saying that the bigger exhaust valves may not help- Wondering if you think that the 4v size may hurt performance? I have no qualms about having them reduced- none at all. May have to since i'm having hardened exhaust seats put in- room etc.
thanks...feel happy......dancing in street!

I have read reports of cylinder wall shrouding by the exhaust valve in 4V Clevelands. I don't think that means a motor with a 1.71" exhaust valve will perform worse than a motor with a 1.65" exhaust valve, but there are no gains by using the larger valves. In most cases it would be cheaper to cut the 1.71" valve down to fit a 1.65" seat. Since you are doing the seats anyway, the cheapest option is to use the 1.71" valve.
Are you planing to have these heads flowed when they are done?

Sorry ...missed that...I would like to have some flow numbers on them...started porting them today...have little idea of what i am doing except what i have read so real #'s would be interesting. I will not polish the intake side but still wonder what the difference could be since propane comes in completely vaporizes. It's a real time consuming process and any links to more info would be appreciated. I have soooo much going on right now that i hardly have time to even be on the net let alone spend a lot of time searching right now. I'll have to see if anyone around Missoula does that.
I attempt to prepare forensic mental health evals for courts and had a couple judges finally pitch a tent up my hiney. Seems they think the wheels of justice should actually turn from time to time.
