I was introduced to it by a good ol Ford truck boy back in my military days. I was wrestling with some rusty parts that wouldn't budge and he sprayed PB BLaster all over it and in no time the pieces came apart. Since then I have always had a can of it handy. It sits next to the WD-40. Did you ever see the advertisement of how it is so strong you can melt a styrofoam cup with it? I wondered if it was true and tested that--and it worked. It ate the bottom of that styrofoam in a matter of hours and turned it into goop.
i use it with heat. makes it even better. heat up whatever you are trying to loosen, then spray it on. let it cool off, and off it comes.
i used it on a hitch that was frozen into a reciever after being left in for 10 years. hooked the ball to a loaded tandem dump truck (65,000 lbs.) with a chain, and started tugging. moved the dump truck 4 ft.. went back to the shop, and heated the reciever up, then sprayed the pb in all over the place with the little tube.10 min later, went back out to the tandem, and thought the chain slipped off, cause i just went across the yard. got out to see the hitch laying on the ground.
That's the third best penetrant I've found- the only better spray is used at the Chrysler dealerships, you can't buy it. The top though is the red dye for checking pipe welds. This stuff clings and climbs, is thinner than naptha, and is such a good penetrant you have to put the bottle in a baggie to keep from getting it everywhere.
I seem to recall a discussion or two on WD-40 where it was pretty well defined as a substance originally intended to displace water, and which had very little if any lubricational properties. It's also one heck of a bait scent for catfishing...
PBB is a definite penetrant, intended for that purpose specifically.
TURBOSHAFT LUBRICANT, AIRCRAFT - 01/EA I can no longer get. But it's enough to loosen up a baptist minister in a Georgetown cat-house...
One drop on your jeans will spread out to four inches across, and it stays in there.
Many items that even PB blaster failed on have been successfully loosened by the "Candle Trick" listed in the FAQ thread here. The candle trick is quick too. You don't have to wait days for it to work.
PB blaster, WD, and other lube/penetrants/etc have been discussed in many other threads here.
