We all know that regular oil changes is the best thing you can do for your engine. I just found an oil filter survey that one guy did and posted on the web. Here it is.
lol. i posted a thread a while ago about this topic. i asked about fram filters and man did i get alot of feedback. i think i got the same graph along with some others. i now use motorcraft on both my rangers due to all the info i received thanks to all the helpful people in this forum. just what ever you do don't argue about it just switch to motorcraft. you won't win! lol!
I use strictly Motorcraft filters, Mobil synthetic oils, and keep the oil changed religiously. ruining a motor because of not taking care of it would make me have a heart attack.
I have been researching this a bit and it does seem that everyone generally says motorcraft filters. Who caries them besides the Ford dealer? We have Autozone, Andvance Auto Parts and NAPA in our town.
Not suprised.
We had a big discussion going in the F150 forum a couple weeks ago.
A guy posted a pic of a Fram air filter that fell apart in his truck, ended up talking oil filters. They are less quality for sure, I have heard several stories and problems.
I had linked to that same oil filter study there.

At BITOG they refer to FRAM as the "orange canisters of death".
A while ago there was a problem wih FRAM oil filters exploding. Many people swore them off for good, but the regular person will just see a commercial on TV and buy that. Im a MOBIL guy and swear by there filters.
The exploding part is something you can see, like the guy who cuts them up.
The part that realy matters is how they filter and you can't see or feel that.
Here is my favorite chart, I would like to see other tests too but can't seem to find any. I always wanted to see some group like Consumer Reports do a serious test on oil and air filters, that would be interesting.
And for the first guy who trys to say this is wrong because the Wix & NAPA are so far apart, go read that Mopar filter study. Yes Wix makes NAPA but to NAPA specs.
Read the details, the Napa has less paper in it.
I didn't know that! I bought several NAPA filters thinking I was getting a WIX clone.
