I've always used Motorcraft for fear of getting something that fell apart. Not to mention any brands *cough* Fram *cough*.
My dad used to run Frams in his 5.7L until I convinced him they were bad. (Air filters, sorry) You could literally put the filter in, pull it out a week later, and see where material had come off and gone into the engine. Disgraceful. He got an OEM filter for about a week, the we bought a full blown intake, problem solved lol.
I have been researching this a bit and it does seem that everyone generally says motorcraft filters. Who caries them besides the Ford dealer? We have Autozone, Andvance Auto Parts and NAPA in our town.
