Headlight switch removal blues...

Hey Guys,

If someone could tell me how to remove the panel beside the steering column that has the light/wiper ***** through it I would appreciate it. The truck is a 1990. I've searched and found a bunch of post reffering to the tach article, but that year has a different dash than my truck.

Basically, the story goes like this:

Bought the truck and was told the front take "didn't work". I siphoned the gas out, because it was very old (didn't want to plug up my injectors). I tried turning the key with the Tank Switch to "F" and the fuel pumps do not come on. I checked the conneciton on the sending unit and it appears to be good, so I'm assuming it is the switch on the dash that is the problem.

To get at the switch, i have to remove the dash panel. To remove the dash panel I have to remove the headlight/wiper *****.

On my old 81 Ford there was a spring loaded release button oin the side of the switch i could reach up under the dash to hit. I can reach anywhere near the switch on this truck.

I tried poking around int he notch on the ***** but couldn't release the ****.

Starting to get a bit frustrated having this much trouble with a simple thing.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hey Mike,

I have a 92 F150 to remove mine I pull the light switch on and use a small pick there is a spring inside the **** and you push toward you and it should release if not put a pair of plilers on shaft and pull kinda hard on the ****.

Hmm, not sure If mine is the same, I know the dash styles are different between a 90 and 92. As for just pulling it, i don't want to break it off, the headlight switch is still good.

I tried pulling on the **** while trying to release any sort of mechanism inside the **** with no luck.

my 92 has a small slot in the back of the **** that you have to slide a seal pick in to release. Its pretty much the same as what FORDMON said.

Thanks

Too Funny on this switch

Once I read the instructions in this post, I carefully inserted a very small screwdriver into the slot and pulled. After fighting me with such force before, the **** shot into the seat back, bounced into the street and rolled under the truck. Lol.... But the parking lights work again thanks to y'alls help!

Thanks to all.
