excuse me for the ignorant post, but what is a "freind"?
1. use some punctuation, the posts you read are hard to comprehend, and it makes it a pain to read
2. stop posting half-thought-out ideas, the way you "talk" on the boards gives everyone the feeling that you are BSing us, because it seems like a 8th grader is typing your posts for you, who hasnt learned how to use grammar.
lol even if ford does read this i have not used any names so they won't know who it is it could be alot of people and its not like its a big enough deal to try and chase down
Let's assume for a moment that story is true. Your friend is a dishonest and comitted insurance fraud. He's a thief. He knew what the terms of the warranty were, ignored them, abused his truck, and hid these facts from his dealer and consequently Ford in order to receive an $11,000 (+/-) engine at no cost. Everyone who buys a new Ford pays for your friend's thievery. I for one am not impressed by the story. I'm appalled that you would post this and try to pass it off as some good fortune on your friends part. I find it disgusting.
rray I beleive the fairy tale starts off once upon a time but both of these will work for this story and the fairy tale may be best as it was the good fairy that fixed the engine.
wesran
Strokin...good for you. Yes, it is very, very hard to read his posts, and others too, at times. I like to read what others say on this site (whether good or bad) as it helps me to understand how our trucks react and perform in day to day situations. It drives me nuts trying to read a post such as his. I would hope others would proof read before they post.
By the way, it should be "...because it seems like AN 8th grader..." . Sorry, couldn't resist.

you know your right about that it is fraud it is theivery if it had been me i would not have tried for warranty however as it stands he did.
i was not passing this as a good fortune. i was telling it because i was stunned that they actually did it.
as for the 11k idk if thats the price i thought the 5k extra u paid for the diesel was what the engine cost them but thats besides the point 11 or 5 its all really pocket change to a company like ford one here and there will not drive up the price. what will is the epa restricting the engine but thats for another thread.
in all ur right it is wrong to do like i said i would not have done it but as it stands it was done and really u cant go back

1 - I'm simply speechless. If you can't figure out what is wrong with this entitlement mentality, there is no way I am going to be able to explain it to you. But I'll try. That $11,000 (and it was probably more than that) could have paid the salary of one of those recently laid- off Ford Employees for a couple of months. Instead, it went into your or your selfish, immoral friend's pocket.
2 - It can be undone. Take your truck (err- your friend can take his truck) back to the Ford dealer, tell them what you (I mean your friend) have done, apologize for it, and make arrangements to pay what is owed for the work that was done. Then pay it off no matter how difficult or inconvenient it is. It will be the first step towards becoming an honorable man.
You have no idea how close I am to reporting this to the authorities in your state. Cement heads that do this should be thrown in prison. It's stealing and it does impact the rest of us financially whether you choose to believe it or not.
This sort of thing really pisses me off to no end. More and more people in this country are becoming irresponsible for their OWN actions! Spill your coffee, sue. Fall in a grocery store, sue. Get in a small, non-injury fender-bender... sue. Trash your truck, warranty it. Geeze people! Grow some ***** and take responsibility for your choices/stupidity!!! I just read in our newspaper that a family is suing Yosemite National Park because their adult kid died when a rock fell on him while he was rock-climbing. A bummer the fella died, but it's sickening that 1) the family believes they are due $10M for a freak act of nature, and 2) That our society would even allow such an asinine claim to enter into our courts. I have to wonder what it's going to take for this country to wake up and put a stop this kind of crap. Oh... and doesn't the word "HONOR" mean anything anymore? D#@# it!!!!!!
Just my 4 cents...

ya'll sound like ur acusing me of doing this and i wouldn't one because yes it is very wrong and two i do my own work i don't need the dealership
but before ya'll come down on me remember im agreeing w/ ya'll i think that it was not the honest thing to do it was theivery and trickery mwpierson i agree what is this world coming too yes he is a freind do i agree w/ what he did no i told him several times it was wrong and that he should pay out of pocket w/ either a new psd or a cummins conversion. however he did not he went w/ the warranty and got it.
now i don't feel we can blame my freind completely because the dealer had to know that the in cab contoller has to have the chip and that would have been enough to pull the red flag and i know some of the people at this dealership they are not stupid they have their own trucks that they have chiped w/ simalar programs and they know their stuff so i think that because of the buisness realtionship that the dealership had w/ my freind that they may have turned a blind eye and did it anyways like one guy said hes had freinds get work done for 200 300 bucks under the table maybe something like that went on like i said idk all i know is that the engine was replaced. and again yes it was wrong.
and not to get in a flame war but ya'll if ur paying 11k for an engine then ya'll are getting ripped off. considering u pay 5k for it i don't think that ford would swallow another 6k for it they would make u pay for it. but im not gonna argue it if its 11k fine its 11k i don't care

The 5.4. V-8 gasser is the standard engine for the Superduty. The 6.0 does not cost $ 5,000.00.
The 5K for the 6.0 diesel is an up-charge after deducting the cost of the 5.4.
I believe that the up-charge for the V-10 is around $ 600.00.
Maybe Polarbear or Jeff can verify the $$$. but, I think I am pretty close.
