Unhappy E4OD codes on new computer

Hi all and thanks for all the help in advance. I have a 92 F-150 4x4 E4OD 33-12.50 on stock gears. I just bought this truck after letting go of my 96. I have fixed all probs on the 92 and just installed new EEC. Now the trans wont shift unless you manualy shift it. I just finished pulling codes and got this KOEO 654(MLP sensor not in park. it was in park) 626 (coast clutch sol circuit failure) and this is the one that gets me continous code 634 im not showing a cm code for that #. any can anyone think of a reason the new computer would cause the trans to not shift or is the circuit failur what killed the old EEC cause i had to replace it it would not let me pull codes. This forum has been a great help to me on my 96 so thanks to all.

Well first of all, Welcome back I'm guessing. It says this is your first post, but maybe under a new name?

I had a similar problem with mine. On the driver side of your tranny there is a cable that runs down and hooks to a linkage, which is the gear selector (im sure you've figured that much out). There is a sensor in that general area that reads what gear the selector is in. I had mud and water get in around there, which wouldnt allow it to shift out of 2nd gear. Not sure if this is your problem though.

Something I should bring up is does it start while in park? I'm not sure if that MLP sensor controlls this, but I think it does.

Why did you change out the EEC? Did you have any problems with the old EEC?

I know I jumped around a little here but it's giving us a place to start.

handyman, thanks for the quick response and yes i had another id but havnt used it in a long while so had to get a new one(memory not as good as it used to be). I havnt tried adjusting the MLP sensor yet as I did not have tranny probs until I put in the new eec and that is a long story in itself.I pulled out the old manual and started checking things out when the truck started running rich and stalling out. The computer would not let me pull codes and the fuel pump was running constant so figuered the eec was fried or at least not booting up. I got the new eec from the local u pick u pull yard my puter was a f2tf-12a650-AHA the one I got was a ft2a-12a650-AHB dont now if that matter but guy said it crossed in his system so i went with it. motor now runs perfect but to get the truck to move you have to manualy shift it. My first thought was wrong eec but not sure anybody got any more input. have checked or changed every sensor on the motor but am at a small loss on the trans as i am not familar with the E4OD. Heard of a TBS on the coil pack wires but cant find anything on that now. help im walkin...LOL

sorry forgot to ask, do you have to have the special tool to adjust the MLP sensor?
