Unhappy why mcdonalds?

today i went to work to find my manager was pissed because all the D.M's. came in on tuesday and found the store was not running like it should. well one of the things the dm's decided was going to fix this is start hiring 4 people a week then when enough people are certified there going to fire the whole shaff managers are not immune. all because of a few people did not show up or call. this sucks

Well, after seeing how MickeyDees operates for roughly 25 years I'd say there is more to this situation than has been noted.

A threat like this will go along ways with some people. They may look at how they work and change a few things to better themselves. Others will not care at all because they feel that it is "Just a job" and nothing else. They can always find a new one. If they don't show up for work and did not call in. They should be fired. If they called in, depending on when and why. It should be noted in their employment record. If it continues to be a on going thing with them. They also should be fired.

If you really like your job, try and find a way to help solve this problem and save your job.

The McD's here in my town had a sign out the other day. Hiring: People who want to work. $10.00 per hour.

The manager needs to be gone if this is the type of work crew that she has. As a manager, she needs to lay down the law to all and those who don't want to follow them. She should lead them to the door. With that said, she is not a baby sitter.

It all goes back to the fact that people want something for nothing. They think that they should get paid to set on their butt all day long and do nothing. Better education and more discipline at home would teach people how to be better workers.

McDonalds is a very structured company and they have a different way of doing business, they have been doing it the same way for many years and they know what they are doing.
I have two friends that have been with McDonalds for over 20 years each and they are doing fantastic. Neither one has a college degree, they started in high school and worked their way up the ladder, one is now a DM and the other is now an owner operater. It proves the fact that you don't need an education to make it in life.
I myself, have been in food service for over 25 years, with 2 degrees, 1 culinary and 1 management, and I am doing great.
Still, it bothers me when people put down the workers at McDonalds, they are trying to make a living just like anyone else.

That statement depends on the age of the worker. Around my area, most of the workers are high school age. They are not trying to make a living. They have no one to support and they live at home. The smarter one's are saving and watching for advancement. The others just want the money. They don't care if they lose the job because there is another fast feeder around the corner. It is not just McDonalds. Most fast feeders know that the turn over will be high. So they don't invest to much into the employee. Unless management see's something in them that they can make something out of. If you are with a company like a fast feeder for over two years and you are still doing the same thing that you were doing when you started there. Then either you show no ambition and are just plain lazy. Or you live off mom and dad and don't need the money. You were told to get a job or get cut off. And this was the easiest work you could find.

I installed the audio and video systems in many fast feeders. I have worked around the employees. I found that I could have a better converstaion with a parrot. Most managers were very good and had some smarts. After them, it was a lost cause.

I just wish the fast food workers around here could / would speak and understand english. I never know how my order is going to turn out especially if it is an order for more than just me.

well, if the store isn't running like it should and yuour job is in jepardy, I'd think that if you did your job better than anyone else, it'd be pretty secure....

as far as firing the non performers,, EVERY YEAR Microsoft fires the bottom 10% of its workforce in terms of "employee performance". Seems this is kinda like what MCD's is doing.

Just a thought- sometimes good things are disguised as bad things. This may be an opportunity to scout around and see what else is available, job-wise, in the area. It's always easier to find a job when your employed (dunno why, just is).

one year they decided to move me up to swing managment but the books they gave me were out dated by 10yrs and most of the corses that were in the newer books were on cdrom i didn't find out till the 2nd day of class because they gave me the wrong date as well that my book was out dated and they stopped using them 10yrs ago they asked if i had the cdroms i said no so i went a whole month every wednesday taking notes. then when it came time to take the test they sent me home because i still had the wrong books they refused to order the new book and cdroms for me. so my boss set me up to fail, and i told her don't ask me to do that no more because you wasited my time, and i gave them the bill for my gas because i had to drive 20miles to the classes, and i told her only ask me if you are serous. so far she hasn't asked me but other people started the same thing the only diff is that they got the books but they were never given the class dates. that was one of the DM's gripes no new managers from our store. then improper training on new employees, and equipment failures due to improper maintence (one that caused a fire), and theft from the tills during night shift and since no one steped up and taddled or stood up for them selves there going to fire everybody.
