PSD, no more....

Well guys this will prolly go down as the saddest and happiest days for me.

Sad that I no longer have my Super Duty PSD, the Super Cab and infant seats just don't work well enough together. I've limped along for 7 months now. I seriously gave a used CC PSD a run, but I can't swallow those payments on something that doesnt have a warranty, and a truck that would only be used as a commuter. I will certainly miss the whine of the turbo.

Happy that I now have a truck that has a full bumper to bumper wnty for 75Kmi, only has 14K, is a CC, but unfortunately a gasser. At least I can properly fasten the car seat in the back seat which is way more important to me. Upside is that my payments are only a 100 bucks more, but 2 years less on this '04 F150 SuperCrew Lariat 4x4. I was trying to hold out for the 6.5'' box this comming fall, but the price on this one sealed the deal.

I used to have a '02 F150 SuperCrew, and I can tell you that the new F150 is one heck of a 1/2 ton truck!

Maybe some one will work my PSD truck as it was meant to, instead of a very expensive five block work commuter. This would make me very happy.

Nice truck....for a gasser

Its amazing the leg room difference of the extended and crew cabs. Putting a car seat in a ext cab is like putting one in the back of a mustang.

If you dont drive 10 miles or more to work, I dont think a diesel is worth the hassle of warming up and cool down. Its hard on diesels to do short trips anyways.

Congrats on the new toy 5.4 Triton? At least its still a blue oval!

You can always get a different whine....can you say roots style supercharger

Yep, 5.4L....

I noticed that Roush has a charger for the 5.4L.

Pretty sure I'd get tired of the lie-o-meter reading 5 mpg all the time!

Don't think I'll be putting much money into mods much past mudflaps, a tonneau and a bug shield.

'nuff 7.3L's running in my family that I'll still frequent this forum.

Hey, it's still a ford!

hey RangerMan- look at it this way. You did the superdad thng (i am one too) and this will set you up for the new truck with the twin turbo cat engine. Being able to say "I gave up my baby for the good of the family" is a pretty good bargaining chip..

All in all, it is amazing what a person find they will do for their kids/family.

Hey thanks for the words of encouragement.

To be honest, I really miss the ole ' Duty, but this F150 is friggin incredible!

If I need a diesel fix, I'll just borrow my dads '03 7.3L CC and his 35' g-neck flatbed loaded down with hay for the afternoon!

Don't feel bad my wife made me trade my perfectly good 2 door 99 7.3 for a 03 cc 6.0 and park the best car I ever had my explorer. I still like my 03 but still isnt the same with a car seat behind me but its worth it for my son. Just tell your dad your doing alot around the house and need his truck just about every weekend for the next 2 months. Have fun with the new baby. I wish you all good luck and good health in the future.

Never fear the kids do grow and go , then its back in the saddle of a PSD..

I went through the same thing.. Went from reg. cab to super cab, then Crew Cab because the kids grew.. The crew Cab is the best though, with plenty of storage, even now that the kids don't ride with me..

Tis' a sad day indeed.

"Infant" seats (the kind that face rearward) do not fit in a SC and anyone who uses one in there is taking a chance with a child who looks to us to keep them safe. Children are just too precious. The upside is Child restraint seats that face forward as your child grows DO fit and rather nicely! I know. I have 3 across the back of mine and the kids love ridin' in dad's truck! I waited until the youngest was out of the rear facing seat to get the truck. I really wanted the Crew Cab and had every intention of buying one, but after some careful measuring I realized the Crew would not fit in the garage. This is rather important to me as I do not have a large shop, just a nice large and wide "2" car garage to do all my work in. It's wide enough to fit four trucks wide, but it lacks 5 inches deep to fit the Crew!! Sacrifices. We all make them for one reason or another and your recent sacrifice is the best one can make. Someone said it earlier....Children grow and you always have that to look forward to if you get the urge to get your SC again!!

This thread caught my attention. I have an 02 SD ext cab and my car seat fits fine in it. My daughter is 8 months and an only child, but no issues. The child seat is in the center rear position and the top comes a little forward of the center console.

I dont have or see any safety concerns. Now if you had 2 kids in a rear facing car seat, I could see that as being a bit tight, but what exactly is everyone having issues with?
