Hi. Here is a question: Is there any reason I could not replace my standard HVAC controls on my 87 F-150, with a nice digital control unit out of a late model vehicle?
You can, however it's not a plug and play situation. Ford's digital climate control is three pieces - the module that you touch and adjust, the "brain" which has vaccum ports to operate the doors, control the fan speed and so forth, and the wiring between.
I had such a unit in my 93 crewcab, and I used bits from a town car. It was a one day project for me, and turned out fairly well. I ended up giving those bits to a friend, and putting the factory controls back in as I'm now in the process of making something from scratch.
