Market Ventures, your problem sounds more along the lines of the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Theres lots of stuff on this forum about that problem (VSS). I don't know where it is on a 250, but on Ranger's the sensor is on top of the rear diff. When those sensors go bad, it affects the auto transmission, speedometer, and anything else computer related that takes speed measurements from that sensor.
