Paul, It sounds like you need a new ts cam. Should be able to buy it anywhere for under ten bucks.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
On the turn signal question, the Ford does not use a spring as you would think. It is a spring but is made of plastic and part of the switch assembly. They get brittle over time and break. You can find replacement cancelling cam pieces in the autoparts stores BUT THEY AREN'T VERY GOOD!!! I usually go to the ford dealer and get a new switch
When you get these you get the whole assembly except the lower plug. You install it off your old one just by releasing the wires and plugging in the new ones in the same location. Make sure you pull the wires through the column first!! Pretty easy.
Gentle,
Get yourself a harmonic balancer puller for the steering wheel. Insure that your bolts are in the steering wheel securely. If you strip those threaded puller holes your screwed. If the steering wheel appears to be stuck and you can't get the puller any tighter take a hammer and "tap" the end of the puller screw. This sudden jolt is all that's needed to break the wheel loose.
Good luck, Have Fun,

I just replaced my turn signal switch on my 79 f250. Rather simple and easy. I bought mine at the Ford dealership for $89.00. Which was less expensive than a parts place I checked with.
The turn signal cam runs about $10 at the parts store. The cam is basically your clicker. That may fix it or you may need that other part that unclicks it. Sometimes if theres a gap between your wheel and the steering column it just misses the detents and won't unclick. That an adjustment situation.
I am not too sure on the switch but my brothers & sisters brought me a new moulded carpet kit from JC Whitney I believe for around $70-$90 bucks. I can't really remember it's been so long. But the carpet fit great and is still going strong. It even had insulation on the back. I believe it took me all of about 30-45 minutes to put it in. But LMC & AutoKrafters sell the kits as well. So there is about 3 places to find you a carpet kit. I am sure the pricing is different for each one. So I guess it will depend on the price and the variety or colors to choose which one you will buy from.
"I didn't think anyone else built trucks other than FORD"!!!
That link that sparky mentioned is going to fix your light problem. I did the job on my 77 and added some Sylvania high output halogens as well. That was two years ago. Problems to watch out for,
1. If your voltage regulator starts to allow excess voltage like mine did (bad regulator) the resulting current can burn your headlights out.
2. Use the spade type heavy duty fuse holders. There seems to be a better connection, (less corrosion and resistance) over time. Also, the optional switch for bringing both high and low beams on together is great for those late night drives in deer country.
