I get in a turn the key to start the truck and there is absolutely no dash lights , no radio, no sounds....NOTHING. (not even crickets)
I turn the key backwards to accessory and the radio works. Headlights are bright in either direction.
Try it a few times...5,7, 15 times then for no reason at all it fires right up and is fine.
Battery is strong and connection seems strong too. Happened before and I replaced the ignition switch on spec. about a month ago.
You replaced the key lock cylinder?
I think these trucks have an electrical ignition switch down on the steering column, not sure.
If so, I would replace it....it's cheap and seen better days.
is the truck completely in park? i have a ford that looks to be in park but you have to put it a bit further before it will start...sounds to be more of a problem that just being in park but wanted to make sure this wasnt the case before you spent a lot more money and time
I "think" it was. It was parked for about 4 days on an incline.
I will be sure to check that out when it happens again.
Is it the MLPS that tells everything what gear you are in? (i.e. Park,Neutral,Drive 1 2 , reverse)
I have a new MLPS but haven't installed it yet. I bought it to remove some questionable tranny sensors.
