Ugh, my trucks giving me a hard time lately, had some wiring issues after installing the 3G alternator, and now i have a no cranking issue, i can turn the key for accessory power at the key, like blower, radio etc..then when i turn the key to start it, nothing! Yes, the battery is fully charged. Nothing happens even at the solenoid, it doesnt click or anything.
One thing that got me was, i use a fat 4 gauge cable and just shorted it across the solenoid posts to see if it would crank and nothing happened...
Yeah i made sure it was in Park all the way, and i hot wired it from the + battery post on the solenoid to the starter side of it and it still didnt crank, so then i was thinking maybe the starter died?

The solenoid should have an audible "click" even if the starter is dead. No click and solenoid is bad.
Hook a test light or DMM to the starter post on the solenoid with the starter disconnected.
Try hot wiring the solenoid again and see if you get voltage.
If you get voltage the starter cable or starter is bad.
You can also hook the test light/ DMM to the "S" post to check the key for operation.
Yeah, i know i didnt hear the starter click as it should, but even takin a 4 ga. cable from the positive post from the battery straight to the end of the starter motor cable didnt even make it crank like it should.
Replaced the battery twice, and its all good, im gonna replace the starter solenoid to see if it has any effect, I also just took the starter out to get it tested and it works.
could be a bad cable do as Bullet said get out the tester and probe around. start at battery to solinoid , s terminal , starter side of solenoid ,end of starter cable at starter, when you stop getting voltage youve found your prob
Well i tried using my buddies 00 Powerstroke with the DI 7.3 with dual batterys...hooked it up with jumper cables, sat for a minute to let it charge...still wouldnt crank at ALL!!! Sat for another few and the battery cables started smoking!!! They melted apart... So, any other ideas? 2nd new battery, new battery cable, new starter/solenoid cable, new solenoid, new 130amp alt, what can i check? The starter tested ok...
