Anyone ever had to change a light bulb in the instrument cluster? The far left light bulb (fuel guage and volt meter) seems to have burned out. Truck is a 99 SuperCab 4x4
Also, What does the sensor in the airbox do? Mine was disconnected prior to me owning the truck. I noticed it when I scanned the codes and came up with the sensor error. Would this sensor change the performance of the truck in any way?
The airbox sensor is the IAT (intake air temperature). It will have no effect on the engine's performance. It could alter how the high idle works when it's cold.
Below 40F., and the oil below 155F. Not much chance of that down there...I wouldn't worry about it.
It's more of a hassle than a pain really. The dash panel pops right off once the stereo reciever is out, then there are just four screws holding the instrument cluster in. The transmission range indicator has a cuple of clips holding it in...and the wiring harness. The light themselves are the same little 1/4 turn bulbs Ford has always used. No biggie there.
I took my dash off when I installed my propane arming switches. It is not hard to do. You just have to work it out slowly and unplug a few wires. On mine I had to unplug the ESOF and a few others I remember. The radio slid out with the dash easily and you have to unhook it also. Really not hard to do, you just have to be careful doing it, that's all.
Well I'm glad to here that the dash isn't all that bad, I want to change the face to a white backround, and put red bulbs in it to match my gauges. Does anyone know if simply putting red bulbs in will work or is there a filter on the gauge cluster that makes it green?
