Nitrous & towing
As you may know, I am on this "quest" (like others) to get more power. Thing is I don't really need it for most of my driving. 85% of the time I don't really feel a need for more power as at that time I couldn't use it anyway but would still have a 44 gallon tank full of 92 @ $3.00 a gal.
It's just that darn 15%. Hence, my desire for a Banks PPK or a Supercharger or something...
Reason for my post: I was once in second, going up a grade (we have lots here), pedal to the floor, towing 2 horses & tack, truck full of family and it just wouldn't accelerate much. I was going about 40 or so and I had to PASS a dork who well...he was a dork. Truck wouldn't downshift to 1st and I wasn't really accelerating any more. I finally overtook him but it wasn't a pleasant experience. (He had moved to the right side of the road for me and the 15 cars behind me to pass.)
At that moment I though... : "Boy, if I had a 50Hp or 75HP shot of nitrous..."
Is nitrous safe in that situation? Is it something I should consider for my 15%?
I know it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a SC or Banks PPK.

As a secondary benefit the NOx gas is supercooled to form a liquid, so NOs lowers temperatures in the combustion chamber and cools the intake valves as it goes by.
For our EFI systems a basic $400 kit with solenoids, hoses, switch, an empty 10 gal tank with the NOx/fuel jet goes from around 50 hp, up to 150 depending on the kit.
It can be hard on rods and big end parts. Towing may require more juice than a 10 lb bottle can provide. It may also be more strain on the rotating parts for longer than they can withstand the hit of laughing gas. Unless a guy could keep the hit at 25-50 hp, then it may be safer and long lasting enough to help with towing.
