If Dodge is owned by the Germans wouldn't that make the 'Big 3' the 'only 2 left' ? Subaru's, Honda's, Nissan's, Hyundai's, Mercede's, Some Saab's, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha's are all built in the U.S.. Some Ford's are Mazda's, some Mazda's are Ford's. Globalization makes it hard to keep score but I do not think you can consider a Dodge a domestic any longer... long live the 'Big 2' !!!
as much as i hate to admit it, it might not be long before there is a big "1" the other 2 companies have ceo's with their heads so far from day light it is not even funny. did i say that about ford......no waite did i just say that about GM......did i just say that about toyota?
japan really has an upper hand due to their government making their currency cheap compared to the american dollar they have been doing that for a while now, but the WTO has yet to do anything about it. wonder why????????? japan ought to have an exchange rate that is more expensive than it currently is, but that would hurt that japan market and help the US. Not that it make it okay for CEO's to be making 200 million while they lay people off, but they are effectively killing the gobal market by having the WTO do nothing. Not that they have any authority anyway, because if they are like NATO, they have no spine without us.
I know no politics are allowed, and that is all the farther I am going with it.........(Just a side note to the moderators, as I just wanted to voice that opinion.)

In my experience Japan is the second most expensive country to manufacture cars in (behind Germany).
The currency rate means nothing. Raw items over there mostly have to be imported at that currency rate.
The fundamental cost of an automobile is fundamentally based upon the pay rate of the workers - of which Japan has the highest for auto workers in the world.
Good point. Not to mention that Japan has to import nearly every scrap of raw material that they use. Pretty near everything that comes out of Japan to NA has to be shiped across the pacific twice. once as raw materials (coal, steel, oil, wood etc) and then back as a finished product. The fact that they can do that and still be competitive with the world market is a true testament to their industry.
