Hey guys,i've got a 97 cc lb 4x4 auto psd.I've got 235 85-16 tires on her. My fuel mileage is terrible.I'm figuring around ten or eleven mpg.I'm trying to figure out a couple things.Gear ratio. When the truck is up to temp I run about 60mph AT 2k rpm.The only thing Ive done to the truck is the 6637 filter.I was hoping someone with the same model could tell me what they are getting for fuel mileage and if they come close to the same speed and rpm what gears they have.I don't drive the truck everyday, but have been driving it alot lately.I'm not sure if I can afford to keep fueling her up at these prices.Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
That is bad especially for a truck like yours I get 12.5-13mpg my truck is a 95 F-450 weighs 8400lbs just with me and a full tank of fuel the truck has 4:63 gears I also live in a hilly area were the grades are 8-10%.
Has the injectors ever been changed ?
How does the truck run in general ?
Are you sure your back brakes are not dragging excessivly ?
Has your area changed to winter fuel ?
You should be getting better fuel mileage than that I'am a PSD newbie too but I owned a IDI for 3.5 years I know changing the old worn out injectors with new the mpg increases.
Overall the truck runs fine.I will definitely check the rear brakes.I bought the truck in July with 110k on it so I don't know if the injectors have been replaced.I'm sure we have changed to winter fuel,But I've known for awhile the mpg was bad,but I did'nt know it was this bad.I also forgot to mention I've got the mbrp 4" exhaust too.All the basics have been done recently.Oil change, fuel filter air filter is new.I hope I get some other input on this cause I really like the truck and don't want to have to sell her.thanks
I have a 94 psd CC 4x4 with 410s and run about 60mph @ 2000rpm. You probably have the same unless your OD isnt working. I get 19mpg on #2 and 16 or 17 on winter blend with same tires @ 65psi and no load.
Programers have been known to help some, if you can stay off the throttle. But if everything has been serviced, I would look at the injectors. Also, if it's a 4x4, make sure the front axle is all disengaged, and you are in 2wd hi and not 4wd hi. All that extra spinning mass can kill fuel mileage. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.
it definitely sounds like you have a 4.10 rear. i dont know metric tires sizes(i live in the us) so i dont know if those are smaller or bigger than stock. if so your psom needs to be recalibrated for the new size. done easily but can only be done 6 times and its a pricey unit to replace. find one of those radar thingys and check your speed against it or drive next to someone in a vehicle and compare speeds. do you still have a cat on this truck? have you cleaned your fpr screen and replaced fuel filter? try those things they should help some.
i have 97 super cab 4x4, tires 265-85-16 inch, 50 psi, mileage 177K , getting 16-19 mpg. engine runs at 2000 rpm at approx. 70 mph. have hypertech promgamer and 4"
exhaust. hope this helps
