only had mine 2 weeks ,
So far it got 18mpg at 75-80mph on 300 mile drive to orlando
and towing my 4000lb equipment trailer I averaged 15mpg at 75mph on a 260mile trip.
I havent cleaned out anything yet,I suspect with over 200k miles the fpr screen is probably gunked up .

Hey guys I really appreciate all the replys and suggestions.I cleaned the fpr screen,it was absolutely packed full of crap.I shimmed the fpr while i was in there too.You can't do maintenance with out doing upgrades.LOL.I really hope this does the trick and gives me that 4,5,or 6 mpg i am searching for. Thanks again. Dave
when you guys mention injectors, can they be cleaned or are you saying to just replace them?thanks.
sorry i couldnt help you on your fpr issue i have not been around for a few days.
you can run some diesel kleen or stanadyne and it will clean your whole fuel system and treat the fuel. or you can run some bio diesel and that will "REALLY" clean it . no need to replace the injectors. they are very expensive anyway. hope this helps.
No problem on the fpr cleaning 1997 F-350. I usually run DK in my truck when i remember too. What would the bio do to clean my fuel system? It would have to wait until spring anyway,I think it's a little to cold in upstate NY for bio right now.
I have a '95 CC DRW PSD 5sp 4:10ls and I get around 12. I usually run 70 to 75 on the highway and there is a fair amount of city driving in my mix. My truck has 235 85 16 tires. I have to run them at 50 psi right now after discovering that they have standard automotive valve stems installed that are rated for a max psi of 50. My truck would have had 215 85 16 as original equipment. I don't know if that is enough difference to affect the mileage, but I doubt it.
Notice that the guys who are running higher speeds at 2000 rpm have automatics. Mine runs a litttle over 2000 rpm at 60 and about 2600 rpm at 70. It has a tuner set to the lowest "tow safe" mode and I run Diesel Kleen most of the time.
I haven't had this truck very long and still have some sorting out to do. Glow plugs are the most pressing issue right now. I also need to replace my cam possition sensor due to the typical occational cut out that everyone reports when the CPS is going bad. I have noticed in some of the post of people who have replaced their CPS that they noticed a few mpg improvement in mileage afterward.
So my pile of new parts currently has the new CPS, glow plugs, and a new fuel filter in it and I will also check the regulator screen while I'm at it.
Gene, thanks for all the input. My truck is not a daily driver so it may take a week for me to calculate the mileage.I will let everyone know what i come up with.As for the regulator screen.Highly recommended.Mine was so bad I don't know how any fuel made it through.
