I have a 96' f-250 psd di turbo. One or two of my injectors is going out ( rough Idle, some power loss). I have a few questions for you guys, is it better to replace or rebuild? Can I possibly rebuild them myself? ( I am very mechanicly inclined person) this question due to expense I was quoted for rebuilding mine $195 for stock and $235 for more performance EACH !!!!!!!! ouch, this makes my wallet cry. Is there any way to diagnose which specific injector is bad with out taking it to the STEALERSHIP ??? Anyone know of cheaper way to go? Does anyone make a rebuild kit for injectors? If so ...... WHERE??????? I would like to go a little more for performace. I run an Edge superchip , 4" down tube, aftermarket air flow system and it runs on WVO that is thinned with diesel fuel.
This is not the problem with injectors the truck has 162,000 mi. It has been a great truck I bought it when it had 19,000 mi. on it
or check out the Swamp products.too. I think you can save a lot of money shopping around and get better performance... I sdewed up on this one... I paed $2000 for 8 stock rebuilds from international. becuase I was rushed. and regret spending that much. Dont f up like me J
F350 and cowboy are right Beans or Swamps are the way to go.
Baby Swamps are rebuilds they flow about 150 cubic millimeters ( a 50% increase over stock) and with proper setup are capable of producing 325 RWHP they cost about $1050
PS: they may also trash your tranny if it is auto
Bean has a milder rebuild that flows 130 cubic millimeters (thats a 30% increase over stock) with proper setup you should get about 280 RWHP and they are supposed to be "safe for your tranny" they cost $625 plus parts I suspect they will work out to about the same price as Baby Swamps
Either way is significantly cheaper than the Stealership

those are the tranny savers. the stage 1's flow 160cc's. and cost 675. the only time they cost more is if your cores are bad.
both guys are the best on the market. have great customer service and will bend over backwards to help you out.....
edit: i just re read your post... not too many people i have seen here and other places have problems with injectors with that low of miles. usually hear of stuff when they reach 200k. have you had a buzz test run?
wvo thinned with diesel fuel maybe your problem also. are you heating it at all?ok my .01

Have you had a cylinder contribution test done? You may just need the injection pressure regulator rebuilt, or maybe a burned injector wiring harness.
A buzz test and contribution test will reveal bad injectors.
I have not had these tests done. What is a "buzz test"? how can I do this test and what instrument do I need for this and the contribution test? where can i get them?
I could have swore I posted in this thread. guess it got deleted.
Most places can do a buz test, it test each injector's solinoid to make sure it has a complete circuit, a contribtion test check to see if each injector is giving the required amount of fuel.
can someone post the beans website. I need to replace at least 2 injectors. I have a 97 PSD with about 200,000 but I have already replaced 2 injectors at 145,000. Will I have to upgrade the tranny..with the beans injectors?

I just sent all 8 injectors to Bean's yesterday. Those guys are great to work with and don't mind taking some time to talk to you. I'm confident that the product they sell will be high quality, based on discussions with them and comments on this forum. They're sending mine back as Stage 1's along with a 6-position chip. My tranny's stock, but they put a throttle on these trucks so you don't have to run at full power all the time, right? Maybe it'll last until next Christmas when my wife asks again what I want Santa to bring...
BDP hands down, they have anything from mild to wild. Customer service and product knowledge second to none, as a matter of fact ive bought 3 sets of injectors (stage 1's, 2's, and now 3's) from them .
Sorry to butt in here but how did you get a 4" downpipe to fit on a 96?
I think (assume) the orginal question was answered so I'll butt in also like HTRDLNCN. How did you get a 4" downpipe in there?? I've been trying for 4 days now to get a 31/2" downpipe in. So far no luck. Does anybody know what is directly behind the area that has to be 'massaged'? In other words, how much can this area be pushed back before hurting something? Glenn
