One quick question, Does anyone know when ford will give the escape a new face lift? I no they just made a few changes for the 05 like the headlamps and few controls on the interior But i was curious as to when they would do it again Thanx....
2008 sounds right. As a hybrid owner, I was able to participate in a Ford event in Dearborn where I met many of their engineers .. they polled us on a dashboard cluster redesign. They said it would be for the 2008 model year.
I'd say don't expect anything big in the redesign of this extremely popular line
(Escape regular + hybrid, Mariner regular + hybrid, and Tribute).
Ok great i hoped for 2007 but 08 will work to. I just love my escape and have had no major problems for over a year beside that airbag light flahsing.
I know this is ford TRUCKS forums but i am REALLY considering trading it in for one of those new five hundred's the first time i saw it i fell in love with them and have been reading the manual every since. I did sighn up for the five hundred forums too and have learned alot about that car.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it", why would Ford want to change anything on the Escape, except for minor improvements...they have a top seller, why mess around with it..
Like the F-150 and the Ranger pick-ups, how much did they really change over the years? That is why they are the best selling trucks out there..
Don't go messin' around with something that works!
Thats true ford is making ALOT of mew changes as far as there vehicle lineup goes Like the freestyle and five hundred which im not happy about. Also the fusion they already have update plans for that. The escape does look nice i was just wondering because they have to keep up with chevy and kia they just updated most of their suvs and soon the escape will be a bit outta date.
Having owned an 02 and 05 Escape, they did make a few minor changes beginning in the 05 model. More insulation/rubber pieces to eliminate the road noise. Console shift rather than hitting the stupid column shifter when reaching for the radio.
I believe the 08 model will have the 3.5 V6 and a non-CD4E tranny with more gears. I'm sure they'll mess with the body/interior at that point.
Cant forget about headlamps i think they look great and they dont fog up..Anyways thats kinda what i mean. I dont wanna have the escpae be messed with to much i just wondered when they were going to make a few LITTLE changes to the escape..
(ford please dont mess up this great lil suv!!!!)
own an 05 and i will say i would like the next change to be the instrument panel and column, just don't care for the layout, and how about a usable ashtray and some cupholders that don't interfere with shifting the stick shift with a big slam or big coffee mug in there lol....cleaned that area out 15 times already from spilling drinks during shifts to even gears. maybe a designer keeps up with this site and a wishlist will get to the shop hehe oh yeah change 5th gear ratio to lower rpm's on highway
Forgot about the headlights! I did like my 02 console better but that's what happens when you have to rearrange the 05 console for a stick. No car has a useable ashtray anymore. I found the Dollar Store type that are hard plastic and similar in shape to a cup works well stuck in the forward console area.
They'll probably mess with the body design but we'll have to wait and see if it's for the better.
I will probably get a lot of disagreements, but I like the column shifter on the '03 for a change. All my cars in the last 15 years or so had the shifters on the floor.
Some say the column shifter interferes with the radio controls. I do not find this to be the case at all..

There's pros and cons of both. I guess mine didn't interfere with the radio controls specifically, but wait until you bump the O/D button a few times while reaching for the volume control.

Never done that yet, but in the beginning I sometimes mistakened the windshield wiper control for the shift lever.
I would expect that Ford would move the Escape family off the old 626 platform and onto the Mazda 6 platform. That said, the Edge will be introduced this fall as an '07 so it would make sense to have a new Escape in '08. The sooner the better because the competition is getting fierce and the Escape family is starting to fall behind. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Edge and a new Escape share the same platform.
