I have a 1997 F250 SuperCab 7.3 Litre Turbo Diesel 4x4. Coming home this evening, I encountered some snow. I stopped and engaged the 4x4 and the only thing that happened was my rear tires started to spin and there I sat. Can anyone tell me why my front wheels did not engage. Thank-you.
ps reversing makes them disengage and then re-engage after about 20 feet, so if you dont need to once your in 4x4 try not to reverse, my best advice is if you can spend the coin on some manual hubs go for it.
EDIT- I wish i had remembered this edit thing was here before i posted a second time LOL

HINT: Next time do not stop. You should be able to shift into 4Hi on the move.

Yep, that's the ticket. Even with manual hubs, as long as they are locked in before you need them you can just push the botton, or pull the lever on the fly. You do have to stop to shift to 4lo.

Thanks to Lead_Foot, I did buy manual hubs (Warn), installed them today, no more slippin' and slidin'. The auto hub on the passenger side was totally shot, drivers not far behind.
