FE FT distributor help

hi guys , i'm big daddy chuck on the ontario chapter

i was hoping that i could find out more from here about a distributor i just purchased on ebay

the ford numbers on the distributor are

C4TF 12102 C

H544

someone on the fe forums has posted saying the distributor is an ft unit , and will not fit my 352 as i planed

i am aware of the kit to put a fe distributor into a ft block , and am wondering if i turn down the alignment ring on the ft ( if thats what it turns ouy being ) any other alignment issues will pop up

any help / insight would be great

also , if this turns out to be a usable piece on the 352 would anyone here know of a company that can change the distributor into something that will show 7,000 rpm

I believe the FT distributor uses the larger oil pump shaft drive, so that probably won't fit in your FE pump. Are you planning on going to electronic ignition any time soon? If not, I'm not sure why you would need a distributor to turn 7,000 rpms, but it's the motor that would limit that, not the distributor. Any other FE distributor will work, they are all the same (except for the electronic ignition ones of course).

the 7,000 rpm nubber i thought would be enough without going overkill if i can find someone to recalibrate the thing . i would have the distributor changed to pertronics if you are wondering , its looking more and more like im going to end up with a conversation piece than a distributor now,

back to ebay to find another distibutor i guess , as its getting pretty hard to get anyone to let one go , and i've all but given up looking in the scrap yards around here ( ontario ) for a dura spark

thanks chuck

not 7,000

i did hear the engine will see 6,000 rpm with no trouble , having the last owner as a friend sure helps , i've been offered a few dual point distributors for the engine , not what i'm after , i hade one on my datsun 510 a few years back and was not as happy as when i set up the oem distrbutor with a pertronics unit

the 7,000 rpm was only a finishing number for the tach , if it can be done ,not to confuse anyone by saying i wanted a 7,000 redline .

New remanned DSII distributor around here is $65.00 (USD), standard issue distributor is around $40.00. What are you after, I may have something in the old parts box...
