I was dissappointed in this movie. I really expected it to be the next epic war movie and fall in with the ranks of movies like Deer Hunter, Apocolypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, and Black Hawk Down. It fell far short. The portrayal of the war is believable because the movie was based on the memoires of a marine who was there. Unfortunately, his memories of a long, boring, and anticlimactic experience, made for a very long, boring, and anticlimactic movie. This is the point of the whole movie, but it was a point that I wasn't expecting. It wasn't a bad movie because of the acting or directing. It was a bad movie because of the war it was based on.
If you must see it then wait for it to come out on video.
A thread was posted on here about the movie and eons of people stated that it was not your typical war movie and that it lacked battles, fighting and all that other stuff that you typically find in war movies. Knowing this, I went out to see it and overall didnt feel that it was a bad movie, and in no way regretted spending the seven bucks to see it.
I knew the movie wasn't going to have battles and whatnot and I really liked it. Basically, don't go to this movie looking for an action flick, because that isn't what it is.
i thought the movie was a disaster. where was the fights and sniper action. i want my ten dollars back! with that ten dollars i could have saved i could go out and buy a couple rolls of duct tape and bailing wire to keep my truck going.
Well it doesnt take blood and guts to make a movie good, but thats what people were expecting, but the war was a whole 4 days 4 hours and a few minutes. For blood and guts there will be a movie in a few years about whats going on right now. I thought it was a good movie, there were some funny parts. For seven bucks and two hours it was worth it, nothin better to do anyways.
I liked it overall, I'll admit it followed someone with a bland experience, but with the topic, what did you expect. It was a good story nevertheless, and it was honest and showed what really happened. I saw Platoon then read the book of the real company that movie is based on and scoffed at the movie for all the BS they tossed in to make it look better.
It's war, it's hours of endless boredom puncutated by minutes of pure hell. You knew what you were going to see, they got your ten bucks, sucks for you, some of us enjoyed it.
i was really dissapointed in how they never got to shoot one person and all the movie was was the f-word. I know that the war wasn't very long but it still would have been nice to see some action. and not action in the bed!
I'm reading the book now , not what I expected. I might rent the DVD when it comes out if I am hard up for a choice. Mainly just to see how it compares to the book. I do not mean any disrespect to vets.
Yea, they should have let the guy get take his shot since his spotter made such a big deal about the whole thing. it wouldnt have mattered anyways, the war was over before it started.
