ya.. they sat there cranking the engine, white smoke puffing out the exhaust till the batteries were half dead.... i took the keys from them, left the truck for half an hour came back and started it right up... they were all calling the truck a pos... i was calling them idiots after the truck fired right up for me... but then, i think deep down, she knew i was gonna be her new owner...!

yup... she's a good mule..! old number 7..! my 02 blue mule..! the sales managers at the dealerships tried to buy her back twice in the 6 months that i worked there after i bought my truck... needless to say i "politely" declined...!
OK...so u see the light come on then go out and then wait a few more seconds and presto...the awesome sound of that mighty PSD comes to life...geez...real dramatic ehhh? I don't know...just love hearing that big motor come to life...the wife can't appreciate it...thinks i'm a little nutty!!??
When its cold outside, the glowplugs will stay on for 2 minutes at a time. When i start my truck on cold mornings,i always wait about a 1 minute and a half.Starts right up.If the truck does not start up for you on the 2nd try, then i would look at testing the glowplug relay.
If the truck will not start at all and you really need the truck. You can take a screw driver and connect the two larger terminls to heat the glowplugs with the key on.That insures that you are getting the glowplugs hot.But no more then 2 minute tho,any longer you will burn them out.A tech told me that when i was having a prolbem with mine.Make sure that the screw driver is large enough to handle the load,to small of a screw driver will get red hot.
