Has anyone ever had an auto lock hub have the auto and manual switch go reversed on them? Its the weirdest thing but I had just finished putting a new wheel bearing assembly on yesterday and wanted to check for any vacumn leaks and when I flipped the switch in the dash it seemed to lock ok, but then wouldn't unlock. So I switched the hub to manual and back and it wouldn't go all the way back to auto, so I switched it back to manual and it unlocked. I then switched the dash switch again and it locked, and when I switched back to 2wd it unlocked. Heres the weiredest part, neither of the arrows will line up on the hub, it seems like everything is 180* out of sync on it. I will get a new one today and install it but I am just puzzled as to why this happened. Any Ideas from anyone?
dont buy a new,try taking it apart frist. There easy to disassemble. They dont have that many parts in them. When you get it apart, clean the parts relube with light grease and reinstall and see if it works.
BTW if you decide to disassemble it,the rubber on the bottom of the hub does not come out.All the other parts come out easy.
ok I had all the parts out last night except the rubber and the switch. I couldn't seem to figure out how to get the switch side apart. Even if I do take it apart and put it back together the way that it should be, I still wonder why it did it and if it will do it again at the worst time.
after you get all he hub guts out, there will be a white round peice in there.Check to see if the little metal clips are still there. You can pull the white peice out, sqeeze them toghter, and they will come apart.
I have no clue why it would do that.My guess would be something just came out of alinment.
Do you mean the little metal clips that are in the white piece? They were in the white piece and came out with it, that got me to the rubber diaphram. Thats as far as I could get and don't know how to get the switch piece itself out, but if i remember from a post long ago the switch comes out the front but the diaphram won't come out.
yeah im not sure how to get that far either.I just had a problem with mine not unlocking. So i took them apart and lubed them now there good to go.But im not sure on how to get the diaphram out, maybe someone will chime in that does.
I know strokin_it had an extra stock hub.He changed his to warn.I know he said in another post that he said he was will to give it out or something like that. You might want to ask him.It would be cheaper then buying a new one.Maybe you can use his shell and install all your parts in it.
Just a thought.

I had the not unlocking problem a while ago and took them apart as far as I could and lubed them all up and it seemed to cure it. But again thats as far as I could get tearing them down. Even with the guts all out the switch is still going like 180* out and none of the arrows will line up, other than that it seems to work ok, just the arrows aren't where they are suppose to be.
