Unless it's a lot cheaper, I'm not sure you would want to try it in a Bronco. Main reason I say that is that according to the owner's manual for our 2005 Mountaineer with the flex fuel engine, Ford says to expect a mileage drop of about 20-30% when using E85. In other words, the Mountaineer is rated 15/19 city/highway on straight gas, but only 11/14 on E85. I believe this is because of the lower energy content of ethanol compared to gas. Dropping mileage 20-30% on a Bronco would probably not be a good thing. The octane rating would help avoid pre-ignition (pinging), but would probably not gain any noticeble performance.

Dont put in your Bronco youll do terrible damge to the injection system. Vehicles have to be setup for it or it wont work. Once again dont do it. Youll regret it. At least gas prices are coming down.

ive heard that the e85 will eat the seals or sumthing like that, now if ur motor is blown u can up the compression to get more out of it. like the new lexus, it has a turbo and gets bad milage on gas but on e 85 it gets like 35% better economy and power.

I live in California with TOUGH "test only" smog checks on '95 and older vehicles, I've been thinking about using E85 for the smog ****'s test and then going back to 89 octane, I think it'll do better, although it's always passed the regular tests, this is the first time I've had to go on the rollers and we only get one chance without any pretest, BIG problem if it fails, it'll get the "Gross Polluter" status, we get to jump through all sorts of Ca State DMV hoops then.

I have put it in my '05 Taurus cause I read that they were the "fuel flexible vehicle". Turns out that I had one of the few that weren't. The service guy said it wouldn't hurt my car but I would lose a little mileage and my check engine light would be on.

if u were to rebuild ur fuel system to all seals and such that are compatible and a computer reprogram to ajust to it and then bump up the compression of your motor u should be able to get the e85 on par with regular gas as far as performance

If your car fails on regular gasoline, a half-and-half mix of e85 and regular gasoline can help a lot. I'n not sure how well it would run (if at all) on e85 alone. And I would only put in enough for the test, nothing more. Pack a 5 gallon mix, run car until empty, put in mix, take test, then fill up with regular gasoline to dilute the mix.

Sounds like a plan!

The half and half plan will probably be the way I go, I also have a 79 Jeep CJ5 with the 304 V8 option, has all the California smog crap and a carb (no fuel injection) it barely passed last time and is now also due for a test only smog check, lucky me! I'll try the half and half with it too. Thanks
