I own a 2002 F350 7.3 Power Stroke. Just recently the temp gauge started bouncing all over the place, while the temp gauge bounces the "check gauges" light also goes on and off too. I thought it might be the sender unit so I bought one from the dealer. It still does the same thing??
I also noticed it`s more erratic under acceleration.
It is possible that you have a faulty temp sensor or bad connection, or like Scott said, a pinched wire. Check the temp sensor plug; make sure its secure and clean. It is located on the top side of the water pump.
Please help. I have the same problem going on with my truck now. I Replaced the temp sensor from Ford and still get a erratic temp Gage, bouncing up after warm up and happens more on acceleration And causes my check gauge light to come on then back off Almost like it's blinking.

It's usually best to start a new thread of your own than to attempt to resurrect a 20 year old zombie thread. A lot of folks will see the date and not even bother to read it. I'll throw ya a bone though. Check the underside of the 42 pin connector where the loom crosses over the drivers valve cover. It's pretty common for the loom to rub the valve cover and eventually wear through. When it does all kinds of random weirdness can happen. If that doesn't fix you up go ahead and start a thread of your own and I'm sure we can help you find the problem.
