My engine temp gauge on my 2002 PSD F350 frequently acts erratic.
The needle on the gauge starts quivering under the normal temperature,
and the "check gauge" idiot light flashes simultaneously.
But my truck doesn't overheat and everything seems normal.
Could it be a temp sensor problem or something else???
Maybe it's tired or scared or something? Probably a bad sender or a loose wire or something. I would start with the simplest first and test the sender before tearing into the dash.
Mosr Ford gauges are 3 position, off - normal and maxed out they are there because idiots said idiot lights were crap (and were right) so Ford put an idiot gauge and made people happy.
