35-36 is about right if the springs aren't sagging. The is alot of ppl that say they can fit the 35's easily on original suspension But I belive with some hard wheeling they are gonna rub. I have the Skyjacker 4in lift and I could probably fit 38's for a pavment pounder but I like to beat it up so 35's are perfect and keep the rubbing to a minimum.
Anyone,I currently own a 1972 ford f150 factory highboy, swb and would like to know it`s market value. The truck is a strong #2 and is equipped with a 390 and a 4 speed. The truck is located in Fairbanks ,Alaska. Thanks Odean
Ofh welcome to the site. Create a gallery and post some pics and I'm sure people would give a little more input after they know what condition and appearance your truck has. Given your region if the truck is in decent shape and running gear is all maintained 1000-1500 on up depending on condition. Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so that said a truck is only worth what the buyer will pay.
Guys, I know the term Hi-boy is just that, a term, but I thought generally is a F250, and not a 150.
ofh, is asking about a F150, and is asking something that is kinda out of bounds for this forum. Maybe someone that may be able to help can email him directly offlist with an answer.
"Vehicle value discussions are permitted, however if we find it turning into a for-sale thread the discussion will be locked and warning issued"...... I didn't belive he was trying to sell his truck on the forum. So I gave him some input that was along the guidelines of the forum rules. As far as the F150 not beeing a true highboy because it's not a 250 yes thats true, not to mention they didn't make F150's only F100's that yr which you missed. If I corrected every post that was a little off I'd have a few thousand more posts also. This post was not going anywhere near the realms of the forum guidelines and I find it offensive that that you had to chime in and be overbearing we're all adults here and look to be folowing the RULES that have been set as a GUIDELINE not a TESTAMENT on this site.
a 73-77 highboy will accept a larger tire stock due to the front fender style.. i had a 72 and now a 75.. i had to lift the 72 3 inches to clear 38x11.5 boggers, and they rubbed. i lifted the 75 3 inches and can clear 39.5x16.5 tsls with rooom for more tire if i want it.. i just put a 6 inch skyjacker lift on a friends 78 'lowboy' and it will now clear 40's also.. the lift for a 72 is that same lift for a 78- the front springs are just installed reverse, the front eye of a 72 goes in the back on a 78...the bare lift with no shocks is 620 from summit of anywhere else, complete with shocks and pitman arm runs about a grand.. thats with rear blocks, not springs though.... the half ton 4x4's are not deemed a 'highboy' when purchasing a lift, they have no lift from the factory and need a 4" lift to clear 35's... JMO
I split this thread apart since most of the people involved before haven't been on here since last March, plus this is a new question.
If you want the actual value of your truck, look under the classic vehicles section on NADA.com, they have a decent price guide online. Also, the truck will be either an F-100 or F-250, there was no F-150 until 75 or so.
Good news; There has been much discussion about this thread, so much so it did something that it should not have, it spilled over to another site. I am a big believer in what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, but others don't share that. The higher paygrades set the rules and sometimes they need tweeking. The heads have come together, and hopefully we have a better direction.
I want to apologise to those offended by the way this issue was handled on my part, it is not my intent to do so. I used a bad choice of words.
There is a new directive now set for asking for values that I will post at the top of the forum.
Everyone is so touchy. It all seemed harmless to me. You guys ought to spend some time on the SANET - a discussion group for sustainable and organic agriculture - those guys can't go 20 words without breaking into personal attacks. I really enjoy being able to come here and talk about old trucks without all the drama.
Did we ever figure out what the guy actually wants a value on? F100 - F150 - F250?

What is wrong with discussing the value or our opinions on the value of a members truck? Nothing really. I come to the 1967-1972 forum because that is the only era I am interested in. I would think we can discuss anything that has to do with our trucks and if a guy decides he wants to sell his truck, then he can post it in the classifieds and end his thread by indicating that it is now in the classifieds for sale. Now if someone joins just to determine a value and then sell his truck and not continue in the forum, then that's not quite right on that persons doing. There will always be people like that no matter what control you think you have. This forum is supported by the members here and whether they pay money to be here or just do business with the advertisers, it is still support. This place wouldn't exist without the members. Behind the scenes it's a business, but in the public forum it's for discussion among the members on what interests them. Cowboy up!
Ofh, like 460crew said, create a gallery and let us see what you have. We may not be able to give you a actual value on it, but it would be nice to see it. The more trucks here, the better the site gets.
