Plowdude, I will just about sell my wifre to get this bed restored(just kidding). The bed, up behind the cab has a real bad rust problme , but I am thinking on cutting it out and having that section fabricated and then put in a bed liner. there is one more rust spot in the back droiver side and i will have to replace the drivers door, but, other thatn that, no more rust. When I got the truck it was being used as a dumpster(how sad), so I offered him 600 bucks and he took it. I stuck a battery and some new plugs and wires in and drove her home. A friend of mine says I gopt ripped , but coming from a Dodge man (LOL).
Plowdude and MBBFord believe I should put in a 400. I may later, but I am working on a very low budget( Shoot, i am just plain poor) so for now I will have wotk with what I have. But later(after the kids are gone and before they come back with grand kids) I will ,more or likely put in a 400. If anyone else has suggestions I am all ears. God bless guys
Really? My 76 F-250 its a long bed but it has the built in toolbax and my bed is actually in faily good shape whch suprises me the whole truck is actually and its loaded with trim everywhere.I love it thoughjsut trying to get ym engine lined out but they are great trucks to restore.
depending on your location, a 302 might not be a bad choice for now. relatively reliable(meaning i have never killed one, and i am pretty rough on motors from time to time) easy to work on, and good parts availibility. then while you have that motor in, you can build the 400 to be exactly what you want.
You know, a 302 isn't a bad engine. We had one in a Comet once and I really enjoyed it. I have a 6 pack in it right now and I also have a 351, that I could rebuild or maybe I can find someone willing to trade me for a 400
