Wanna-be Level 2

Ive got a FX4, but I want the goodies the Level 2 FX4 has.

Can I put the BF Goodrich 15" tires(standard on Ranger Level 2) on my Rangers 16" rims?
Can skid plates be purchased? FX4 has 2, Level 2 has 3. Has anyone tried Rhino Spray on liner on the under side of a truck? Ive heard it works.
Anyone know how much, when I need them replaced, are the Bilstien shocks and the Torsen rear differantial are?

One last ?: Can the Tremor Dual Media (CD/Cassette/AM/FM combo avilable back on the 2003's) sound package be purchased aftermarket, and placed in an FX4? Any guesses as to how much?

Thank you!

I don't know whether it is possible to put 15" tires on your rims, but it is not a good idea. If you REALLY want those tires, get rims that they fit on. Tires are pretty important to safety; you don't want to take any chances.

As far as the sound system, I remember looking at the Tremor package with a friend a few years ago and concluding that by going aftermarket, he could get a better sounding system for less money. With sound systems, the sky's the limit, but if you want a decent head unit, amp, good speakers and a sub, I think you're looking at $800 and up (maybe someone can correct me, it's been a while since I priced any of this...)

Thanx for the reply!

I was told I could get the Level 2's BF Goodrich tires in a 16"' to fit my rims, I was just wondering if anyone has tried it.

Well...if BF Goodrich makes them in a 16", then yeah they will fit, get 'em if you feel it necessary.
Why exactly do you want the Level 2 anyways?

Heck yeah. Lots of people change tire sizes. It's the same as taking Thunderbird Super Coupe rims and putting them on an Aerostar. (I saw that once.)

As for the rear end, as long as you don't abuse the one you got, you should never have to replace a rear end.

I have no idea how much shocks cost.

I put BFG 255/70R16 LT TA/KO tires on my 05 FX4 off-road - They ride great at 37psi - The 15" version sold on the level II are P rated -

I was worried about LT rated tires on such a small truck but they handle, break and ride find - very good off-road too.
Don't put 15" on 16" rims.

Shock pricing: Depends on what you want, you can pay anywhere from $50 for four cheapy shocks that will last 10K or so, or you can pump several hundred into extreme off-road shocks that can take abuse for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Bfg 265/75r16 Is The Tire You Want. Slightly Taller Than A 31-10.50, But Thats A Good Thing. Bilstien Shocks Go For 60 To 70 Dollars Apiece, Depending Where You Buy. Rancho 5000 Shocks Go For 40.00 And Are A Great Off Road Shock. The F-150 Fx-4 Has Rancho"s Stock. The Rearend You Want Is A Detroit Tru-trac, Gear Driven, No Clutches To Wear Out, It"s Around 375.00 For A Ranger. All Skid Plates Will Bolt Up From A Leval 2. I Put Them On My Xlt. Your Ranger Will Be Better Than A Factory Leval 2 With These Parts.

I'm not sure on that one, my Level 2 came with LT rated 31x10.5s.

i got the level 2 ranger. you can put some good shocks on your truck other than bilstien. put 16" tires on the 16" rims bfg makes them. Get your self one of the skid plates and there it is a level 2 ranger. as for the speakers you can get an aftermarket system cheaper and they can hook up to the stock radio if you can't afford the aftermarket head units.

No 15" tires on 16" rims.

Stereo? Lol, I have quite a bit invested in mine.... Looking at over 2grand with what I have in there now. That's after I finally decided on everything.... A total of over 3grand if you want to get technical. I have a mostly Alpine set up. It would be full Alpine if the Type-S subs would fit in my box for two 12s in my single cab ranger. $800 for a good head unit, sub, and amp sounds about right. Not door speakers though. It will put you up to about $1000 if you put decent door speakers in. (that's if you install everything yourself, unless you get a helluva deal.)

Sounds like a nice project. I like the look of the FX4 Rangers.

well any dealer will tell you that it is possible to put i think a size smaller on your rims. It does put alot of stress on the tire and can cause abnormal wear, but it what alot of rice burnners do it get a smaller side wall without having to pay for it.
