this truck should have 2 fuel pumps if a single tank, 3 if a dual tank. One in-tank (1 in each tank) & one external high-pressure pump. Check that they all work after running the engine & it dies. If you have a meter, check the external pump for voltage on the terminals. You could have a faulty inertia switch causing it to loose voltage to the pumps. It is located on the firewall up behind the parking brake. It can be jumped out with a wire to test it.
Mine did the exact same thing couple of years ago & it was the inertia switch. I actually cut it open & fixed it myself. It had burnt/arc'ed internal contacts.
If you don't have a meter to test for voltage, you can either buy a cheap on at RadioShk or even use/buy a test lamp.
its dual i tested the voltage going to the external it does run when the truck idles and so do the other to and i checked the inertia switch already and reset it a few times after that it still dosent run could the switch still be faulty and how do i go about in fixing 1 of them?
Just because the pluger is down does not mean it's working. Remove the connector on the inertia switch & jumper the wires/connectors pins together. This will defeat the switch to see if the truck will run.
I physically cut the assembly apart, cleaned the the contacts, reassembled & fastened using 5 minute epoxy. Careful though, it will fall apart on you & you may have a hard time getting all the pieces back in their proper places. Cut around the seal line.
Good luck!
Ford still sells the inertia switch, actually you can get them thru Ford Parts Network on-line usually a lot cheaper than a dealership. I have the Ford part # some where if you need it, or you can look it up youself. But try repairing it youself first, it's about 75 bucks!
