Question Front axle weight?

Need to find out what the front axle weight is on a '84 F250 4x4 w/ 460cid engine & manual trans. I would like to know if "Rhino Ramp 12,000" plastic ramps can safely hold the trucks front end. It goes without saying that I would use jack stands as a safety back up.

Thanks

I myself would just use decently rated jackstands (I use 6k), so that the truck is securely lifted. If the plastic did fail, what's to say that the truck will land squarely and securely on the jackstand backups (if it lurched a bit to the side, e.g.)?

I would never put my truck on plastic ramps, let alone put my body under it while so lifted. I probably tend to overdo things safety-wise, but that's okay with me. Others will differ, I'm sure. Your truck probably weighs the better part of 3 tons, most in the front half.....why fool with that much weight? JMO

My 85 F-250HD supercab 4x4 with a 460/C6 weighed in at just over 5400lbs. alltoghether, and that was with a flatbed trailer hanging on the hitch. If your ramps can support 12,000lbs, I think you will be well within the safe working weight limit.

I always use steel ramps and lots of chocks.

You could always straddle a ditch and chock the wheels. No better weight holding ability than Mother Earth herself......

Holy cow, that's all?

My '89 F-150 4x4 with a 300/T18 and no trailer weighs just a hair shy of 5000 lbs.

No, wait a minute, brain fart. It was just over 8400lbs. I remember commenting on how close the weight was to the GVWR of my truck. The trailer I had on there, had a tongue mounted tool box that was full of logging chains and binders. I am sure that amplifed the tongue weight a bit.
