well the thing is was i didn't have the means of finding all the additives, and less likely of finding warm water in a parking lot that i was sitting in that night(sry i didn't mention) so thats why i tried the coke. and sense it worked cold i didn't have to worry about the cracking. Though like in ATC Crazy's problem if you defrost the window on high it is vary important that there is no snow on the window or at the bottom. I cleaned my window off on the way to school in a hurry one year leaving the snow around the wipers. well that day with the defrost on i found out that i had a small crack in my winshield. 10 mins later i was watching the crack race all the way across the window. sadly no one won that race

I used to just use the winter washer fluid with my wipers, but the frost is too hard on the blades. Now, I just let it warm up, and I go around scraping the windows. And my wipers stay newer longer.
