Valve cover gaskets?

Are the valve cover gaskets re-useable on my '99 psd when changing my glowplugs? Why do they cost so much? Thanks

I don't know but get used to it. This is my first PSD and from what I've read, everything costs a lot. $250 for a water pump, $800 for front wheel bearings, etc. I think the water pump for my 94 Suburban was $40 and for my 92 F150 was $17.

they can't be that much and nothing is as agrivating as a leaky valve cover gasket coating your engine with oil

I believe the injector wiring harness is incorpoated somehow into the gasket.

yes they are reuseable. not sure what the cost is but the cost of having a gutless gas engine is way more.

Heatstroked is right. The wiring is incorporated into the gasket, and makes it expensive. Here's a picture:

It's my understanding they are reuseable, but the connectors have a bad habit of going bad.

I stand corrected. I went looking for a price and found the gaskets for about $38 - $40 on line. I think the gaskets go around the connectors or the connectors fit into the gasket. The picture I gave a link to was the gasket and harness combined. Sorry.

the gaskets have a 2 way plug molded into them. the outside harness plugs into it then the under valve cover harness plugs into the inside plug. when there is a melt down the plugins also get melted at times
