I have a 2004 Ranger "Edge." I've noticed that there is no lighting behind the headlight switch. I assume that there is supposed this is supposed to be lit and may represent a burned-out bulb. Is there supposed to a light inside the glove compartment?
2004 xlt here...There's lighting behind the headlight switch on mine. but there's no light inside the glove compartment (cost cutting measure, I guess).
'94 XLT regular cab. I have the glove box light, but no lighting on the light switch (it's a push pull switch so I don't guess there's a way to light it).

Does your headlight switch illumination only work when the key is in the start or run position, AND with the park or headlights turned off? Or is there headlight switch illumination regardless of the ignition key position and when the switch is in the parking or headlights on position? The schematic I'm looking at for a 2004 indicates the former. Seems rather odd.

Thanks. While I've enjoyed driving this truck, the overall quality as measured by warranty items is not the best--although to be fair, some of the problems have been dealer-related.
I bought the truck in January of this year. It was missing the antenna. In addition, the radio was never properly connected. The panel for the temperature controls was broken. The inside of the rear extended cab doors was not completely painted (both sides).
No glove box light in my 04. I plan on adding it; I would like to think that an Explorer light assembly will fit and that the wiring is there for it. Unless it was deemed too expensive to leave that strand of wire and the little plug in there too .
It would have been nice to also leave in the:
*cargo light
*underhood light
*map lights
*two tone rear lights, red for lights and yellow for turn lights
