2004 Ranger Lighting Question

I have a 2004 Ranger "Edge." I've noticed that there is no lighting behind the headlight switch. I assume that there is supposed this is supposed to be lit and may represent a burned-out bulb. Is there supposed to a light inside the glove compartment?

'94 XLT regular cab. I have the glove box light, but no lighting on the light switch (it's a push pull switch so I don't guess there's a way to light it).

The light switch on by 2004 is more of a standard Ford turn-switch with three indicators present on the dash (off, parking lights, and full lights).

Your headlight switch should have a light, get it replaced under warranty if your still covered.

Does your headlight switch illumination only work when the key is in the start or run position, AND with the park or headlights turned off? Or is there headlight switch illumination regardless of the ignition key position and when the switch is in the parking or headlights on position? The schematic I'm looking at for a 2004 indicates the former. Seems rather odd.

It should light, have it fixed under warranty. Beware it will keep burning out, my 01 is on it's third switch.

Thanks. While I've enjoyed driving this truck, the overall quality as measured by warranty items is not the best--although to be fair, some of the problems have been dealer-related.

I bought the truck in January of this year. It was missing the antenna. In addition, the radio was never properly connected. The panel for the temperature controls was broken. The inside of the rear extended cab doors was not completely painted (both sides).

Repacement bulb

Believe the bulb in the switch can be replaced like the one used in the
fog light switch.
Do a search to obtain more details,

Thanks.

Any idea on the glove compartment? Should there be a light when it opens?

My 2003 Ranger has a glove compartment light that works. Get everything fixed before your Bumper to Bumper Warranty runs out, you'll be glad you did.

Nope. It was removed in 2004MY as a cost cutting change.

No glove box light in my 04. I plan on adding it; I would like to think that an Explorer light assembly will fit and that the wiring is there for it. Unless it was deemed too expensive to leave that strand of wire and the little plug in there too .

It would have been nice to also leave in the:

*cargo light

*underhood light

*map lights

*two tone rear lights, red for lights and yellow for turn lights
