Fuel Filter

How do I bleed the fuel lines to replace the fuel filter on a 1999 F-150 4X4?

On my 2000 when i changed my filter, I pulled the fuel pump fuse and started the truck. When the truck stopped, the lines are bled down and I changed the filter with no problems.

never worried about it too much. liquids are not compressible, so when you loosen 1 end and a few drops leak out, the pressure is gone. you will spill a couple spoon fulls just due to gravity.

My haynes book said to unplug the connector on the fuel pump cut-off switch and start the truck. Mine didn't even start, just cranked and hit about three times, so there can't be too much pressure on the lines. That or I have a leak. If you don't have a shut off switch, I guess pulling the fuse would work just as well.
