temperature gauge not working

We had our first cold day here in Austin yesterday. Yes, 60F is cold to me. Anyways, I was driving to work and I noticed that my temperature gauge was stuck at the very bottom. At first I thought it was because of the temperature outside, so I drove around north Austin for a while. After driving a while, the temperature gauge was still not registering any temperature.

Any advice on how to diagnose/replace/fix the problem? Thermostat problem?

Oh, I have a 2002 F150 V6 with 37,000 miles. I have not changed the antifreeze yet.

The wire probably came off the sender. Look around on the intake for a wire loose somewhere.

sounds like a bad connection. might want to pull the connector off and spray some wd-40 on it.
