Hey Larry, Speaking of Escorts how ya likin your little hotrod.. I just had mine out today and its still good for 2nd gear rubber at 160,000 miles and doesnt use any Oil either!! LOL...I like my little Wagon!! I have the windows tinted and chrome wheels on it..So it looks pretty decent!
Well, it's running better. Found a rotten PCV rubber line and was causing stalling . That got old real quick, but it's fine now. I tinted rear window to get rid of glare from cars behind me. Maybe next spring I'll look at some GT wheels? I got a remote start for it too!
Buddy I bought it from has matching light green/tan int wagon for his run around car(for his car lot). We got in a drag race the other weekend and i SMOKED him . I powerbraked it just slightly to get the convertor up tight and I squealed the tires across the intersection as I left him sitting . He didn't know what hit him. My friends told him to watch out with me and wagons..LOL!! My wagons tend to run pretty good . Been knocking down 30 mpg for average city/hwy driving I do. Maybe I'll get to drive it to Columbus this weekend and see what kind of real hwy driving I can get? It's swap meet time! I go to chiro on Wed morning to get kink out of my back so I can walk, flu bug is about gone so I'm ready
No money to spend, but always a good time b-s'n with all my friends.

Early in College I had an Escort GT. It was 91 model with the 1.8l twin Cam mazda motor. It was my first new car. Me and my best buddy were out partying one night after the high school sweetheart and I had gone seperate ways. I was in pretty bad shap, so I let my buddy drive. For some reason, I figured he was in better shape.
So, we make a pass down 6th street (popular local cruise street), through the slow crwowded section. As we get to where it clears up a little, a Mustang GT 5.0 and a Nissan 240SX start messsing with us. next thing I know, jeff's got the 1.8l wound up and the 5.0 is a 1/2 car length back. I'm hanging out the window looking back yelling "Four, count 'em Four cylinders", holding up four fingers. I think we got up to 100+mph in a 35mph zone. It's a miracle we didn't go to jail. the 240SX was much slower, but tried to make up time by running every red light.
people laugh when I tell them about my Escort "GT", but that car was quick!
Got a buddy here locally that ran one of those turbo GT Escoratti's (LOL! ). He had some NOS plumbed in and it would FLY! Of course he did have to work on it pretty regularly. He sold it and got his '74 Ford F100 and put a stout 460 in and went 12.0's with it.
