Great info Heat ...thanks! Noticed your from Phoenix...undercarriages probably stay pretty clean out there...nice! Out here in NH everything eventually turns brown underneath due to road salt...ughh!
Yeah we have it pretty good out here in the west. Most of the cars that I work on are around 5-15 years old and underneath they are rust free. It's very easy to spot a transplant because of all the rust and the PITA to get the job done.

Yeah, I'm from the Midwest originally and I know about corrosion, rust, etc.
Went to NH, VT and MA a few times this summer and I saw 3-4 year old vehicles with rust, etc. Sad!
Just another reason I have never regretted moving to AZ!
If you want air horns - don't cheap out and buy the cheesy ones with a direct-drive compressor.... (ask me how I know!!) I got to use mine about 5 times before that hunk of stopped working. I never did get around to getting a good quality set-up yet, though it's still on my "to do" mod list.....

Yeah... i lived in Sacramento for three years while in the USCG and couldn't believe how long cars last! Lots of engine rebuild shops. I would probably preferer to spin a wrench out there any time then having to deal with these rusted cars of New England.
yup... i gotta agree with psnut... all the salt they have to dump on the roads around here really eats the cars and trucks... it sucks..! i think the dealerships pay the local towns to put EXTRA salt on the roads...! too bad too as i don't need them to..! you could have 4 feet of snow on the ground and my mule would just chew through it..!

Yea I'd love to have a sweet set-up like Heat's!! I have one of the crappy ones where the little compressor hooks right to the horns, no air tank - don't know what brand it is.....

How does your undercarriage look. I've already had the Rustoleum out for my fuel filler neck. truck has 56k '02. Sort of hate dumping gobs of cash in mods into it and then have it rust out from under me . Look like Fred Flinstone in another 4 years...yaba...daba...doo!

LOL It gave one heck of a loud blast when it did work - but it was a lot of $$ to spend - just to scare the crap out of the few people I got to blow it at!!

it doesn't look too bad... i've been keeping the frame painted with the flat black spray bombs every year... i'm hoping to get it done this weekend... gotta get the plow ready too... snow next week...? that's what i heard..!
I just sold my F250 V10 gasser and I had 2 sets of double trumpet horns on it with a Viair 125-145 psi compressor with a one gallon tank...IT ROCKED!! Cant wait for the father in law to come back to I can get the stuff off of it. I did have some problems getting the tubing to stay in one piece. I mounted the compressor and tank under the drivers seat and ran the 150psi tubing up in front of the firewall to the horns on the wheel wells under the hood. When the underhood temps would blaze in idleing traffic or just on a 90 degree day, I would always hear a long bang and hisss....followed by the compressor coming on. Every time it would blow a hole in the tubing. Well I even upgraded to the HI PRESS tubing and it burst too. I finally just used copper plumbing tubing and it worked like a charm the whole summer....Man I can't wait to put them on the PSD....not sure where, but I definitely want them under the hood if at all possible. Good luck and drive safe....Dave
One important thing I forgot to mention about the horns...I have an alarm installed on the truck so I wired the horns up to the "trunk pop" output on the alarm. Insted of poping the trunk....the little ole ladies get a shot of "ACAS"...I am retired Air Force so I came up with this based on the "TCAS". It stood for "traffic collision avoidance system" to keep us from having a midair with other planes...well the ACAS is for "Airhorn Collision Avoidance System.....It also works good when dogs or little ole ladies are checking out the truck at work.......Enjoy the horns.....Dave
