Question Camber adjustment?

My 2000 F150 only has 70K miles and the mechanic said the ball joints were in too bad a shape to do an alignment. I don't buy it.

Any one know how to adjust the camber? I'll just do it myself till the wheels are the way I want. the wheels are like / \ . (it handles the curves great, but the tires are wearing bad on the inside). The shocks are fine.

If there's anyone in the Dallas area listening, where can I get headers installed for a 4.2 v6?

The adjustment for the camber is at the inner side of the upper A arm. If you look at them there is a cam or essentric on one side. I had the same problem with my truck and maxed out the adjustment and it bought me a little time but ended up changing the ball joints and tie rod ends in about 6 months. Good luck!

I was also told [by a Ford dealership] at 65,000 my balljoints were shot, on my 2000 F150. If I did not let them replace, my brand new tires will be gone in 5000 miles. The original tires still had pretty good tread before replacement and were evenly worn. The truck drove excellent and still does. I asked the guy if I had stupid on my forhead. I was stuck 1000 miles from home for a rear end repair [on the truck], that was the only reason I was at a Ford dealership. I would never make that mistake under normal circumstances. Joe

put a jack under the lower a-frame and lift one font wheel 2 inches off the ground. weight is on the a-frame and tire/ wheel ishanging free. put a 2 x 4 about 4 feet long, edge under the tire about 6 inches. pry up and down on the tire trying to lift it up. see how much play you have. the max is suppose to be 1/16 inch. if you hear it lclunk- clunk, you are too far gone.
