1)Mechanical: I just got my truck back from the body shop (crashed into the back corner of a Civic and took out my front left corner, replaced the fender, quarterpanel, bumper, grill, repaired the radiator mount). I also had the outer tie rod replaced. But I'm getting a little bit of a bounce/shimmy in the steering wheel. Also, if I coast the truck with no hands on the wheel and apply the brakes, the truck pulls to the right. What should I be looking to replace?
2)Electrical: My stock radio could never pick up any AM stations unless the truck was off. If I turned it to ACC, I would get a lot of static. I am also losing reception on FM stations if I have something plugged into my cigarette lighter (cell phone charger). I take it the power source for the radio is going to have to be moved. I replaced the stock unit with a Kenwood unit that I have liked so far.
1. try a front end alignment, and have them check for a bent control arm. if the control arm is bent it will cause the problem but also if they replaced the tierod and did not do a alignment then that aswell would cause your problem.
2. are you having the same problems with the Kenwood as with the stock? If not then you fixed the problem.
3. No not paranoid just want to keep her on the road and running good. the pulling to the right could cause a bad accident (safety)
Check for a bad tire (broken belt) and for an out of balanced tire. The crash could have chucked a wheel weight from the wheel.
My AM is disrupted by a cell phone charger too, due to the way that they charge. The radio memory is probably wired into the same hot always circuit as the loighter/power point.
They should have done the alignment but did they, you said they already replaced the tie rod and it now pulls. Also you would have to look at both lert and right control arms and seee if there is a difference between the two, rare to bend them but it does happen.
Sounds like LxMan1 has the answer to the Am radio problem.
I don't worry about that I miss spell alot because I try to type to fast then don't proof read it. darn old Mechanic hands are all fumbles on the keyboard.

They replaced the tie-rod, then did the alignment. I had the front left wheel replaced because of the accident, although I do not see any weights on the new rim. I am getting new front tires at my next oil change.
i get the static on the am stations when charging the cell. seems to be worse if the phone is completely discharged. if i recall looking at the wiring diagram for my truck f150/5.4l there were 1 or 2 rf filters which take out static from the engine when it's running. possible one of them is bad? also check that you may have a bad antennae/lead. don't know how you would check that other than test with another antennae. hope this helps.
That makes since if you have a new tire on the left and a old tire on the right, then it would pull to the right because the tread is lower on the right then the left.
