2001 ranger 4.0L V6 "E" (vin code) I have replaced the EGR valve, replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body, cleaned the MAF, replaced all 3 o2 sensors, cleaned the PCV valve and replaced the upper intake gaskets. I still get pinging under moderate to heavy acceleration. I don't know what else to try. I am determined to fix this myself, I don't want to bring it to a mechanic and have him say "I just tweaked this and cleaned that... here's a bill for $300." Anything else other than replace the MAF?
could the O2 sensors have gotten gunked up with all the cleaning i have tried? If so can i clean them up with anything, contact cleaner brake cleaner, throttle body cleaner...
well i dont know what kinda ping you are talking about but... if it is the same kind as my 99 had it is not good. i had a 1999 xlt that on clod starts and "hevey " accleration it woud ping. took it to to ford and they said that it looked like mt head gaskett was starting to leak whitch is putting antifreeze into my oil. i said ok fix it. well about 2000.00 lator it was fixed. ok no problem. about 1 month or so lator it started again. went to chat with a buddy of mine and he said "TRADE IT IN' look s like the engin was on it's last leg and the berring were ready to spin. so i did good buy 1999 ranger xlt Hello 2004 fx4
